Army Tuition Assistance (TA)

Tuition Assistance (TA) is financial assistance provided for voluntary off-duty education programs in support of a Soldier’s professional and personal self-development goals.

To start the process, follow the steps below:

Go to  and sign in with your CAC card. 


  1. Once the student account is established, select the education goal. Select education level, school and degree you want to pursue. 
  2. Once your education goal has been approved by your ESO/ESS, select the Virtual Benefits Training link; after that is completed, select TA Requests and issue funding. 
  3. Your assigned education counselor will review your tuition assistance request (TAR) and approve or reject it. You will receive an email stating the status of the TAR and the steps to follow, if necessary. 
  4. Send TAR to financial aid. Once processed funds will be applied to student invoice.

Important Notes:  

  • All drops/withdrawals must take place through . Soldiers who do not successfully complete a class will be required to repay the TA. Soldiers who are unable to successfully complete a class due to military reasons must request a Withdrawal for Military Reasons (now called a recoupment waiver).
  • TA requests must be approved prior to the first day of class.
  • Tuition Assistance (TA) is available to members of the active duty Army, Army National Guard or Reserves beginning ONE YEAR after the completion of Basic/AIT.
  • If you are not using any form of the ROTC scholarship or the Georgia Military Scholarship (GMS) you may be eligible for Army TA.
  • You can receive up to 16 semester hours per Fiscal Year (1 Oct. through 30 Sep.)
  • Pays up to $250 per semester hour towards your tuition only.
  • If you are on the Hope Scholarship, TA will only pay the portion of the tuition Hope does not cover for each class you are requesting TA.
  • If you add classes during drop/add at the beginning of the semester, you will not be able to request Tuition Assistance for these classes.
  • Other regulations may apply.
