The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program is for students who want to become a registered nurse. Through rigorous classes, practice in our simulation labs, and intensive clinical experiences, you'll be prepared to be a nurse generalist with knowledge and skills to practice in acute and community settings.

Upon graduation, you will be eligible to take the national licensure exam (NCLEX-RN) required for practice as a professional registered nurse.

Traditional Track
The traditional track is primarily for students completing their first bachelor’s degree. Those with a prior degree may also apply. Nursing courses are completed during junior and senior years in 4 semesters (24 months).

Apply for admission to the University of North Georgia using . Both Georgia and out-of-state residents create an account with GA Futures to apply. If you cannot apply online, download a paper application and submit to the Office of Undergraduate ̨��swag. All applicants, online and paper, will pay a non-refundable application fee.

On the admission application, you will need to select Interdisciplinary Studies - Nursing BS for your intended major.

Submit your official transcripts. You will need to submit an official transcript from each institution you have attended. We must receive the transcripts through e-script, Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, or another secure transcript delivery service directly from the institutions: choose ̨��swag Imaging Center or use admissions-gvl@ung.edu as the intended recipient.

2. Steps to Apply to the Department of Nursing

Once accepted to the University, you must apply for admission to the nursing program once are fulfilled. You will find the BSN application in your .

Register for the HESI A2 exam at one of the ̨��swag Testing Centers or at a Prometric Testing
Center using 201234 as ̨��swag’s ID number. The exam must be taken within twelve months
prior to the application deadline and may only be taken twice per calendar year. There
must be six or more weeks between exam dates.

Score must meet the scores listed in the requirements section above.

Accelerated Track
The accelerated track is for students who already have a bachelor’s or graduate degree in an area other than nursing. Nursing courses are completed over 4 consecutive semesters (15 months).

Availability: Gainesville (Courses are delivered in a hybrid format)

Transferring into the BSN Program from Outside ̨��swag
Transfer students must apply to the university and be unconditionally accepted, prior to applying to the BSN program. ̨��swag must receive your completed application for admission and all supporting documents prior to the deadline.

All transfer students are required to attend a transfer student orientation after acceptance.

What The Traditional Journey Could Look Like

Your First Year

You'll start to find your place on campus and begin your core classes in English, math, science, history and chemistry.

Attend one of our nursing advisement and info sessions to learn about applying to the nursing program.

Sophomore Year

You'll finish up your prerequisite core courses.

This will be the year you apply to the BSN program. Admission is competitive and is based on your GPA and HESI test score.

Junior Year

You'll learn the fundamentals of nursing practice, including health assessment, pathophysiology and pharmacology

Senior Year

You'll study specialized topics in nursing, including obstetrics, pediatrics, mental health and population health.

As you prepare to graduate from ̨��swag, you'll also be preparing to take the NCLEX exam to earn your professional licensure.
