Kinesiology (M.S.)

The University of North Georgia offers a Master of Science with a major in Kinesiology. The Kinesiology (M.S.) program is for you if you have already received an undergraduate degree in health and physical education or a related field. You will be introduced to foundational knowledge in kinesiology-related material. 

Applicants certified in Georgia should verify with their employer or the GaPSC whether the advanced degree leads to a certificate upgrade or pay increase. The GaPSC provides the  to assist with this process. Out-of-state applicants should also verify with their employer or certification body to verify certificate upgrades.

Program Application Deadlines

All application materials are to be received prior to the deadline. If program capacity is met prior to established admission deadlines, we will stop accepting applications for admission and cancel remaining incomplete applicants. Completing your application earlier is better.

How to Apply to the Kinesiology (M.S.) Program

Learn More About the Kinesiology (M.S.) Program

  • Provides an advanced degree opportunity for physical educators (and related fields) who hold a teaching certificate in physical education or have a degree in exercise science and non-certification physical education.
  • Provides advanced experiences and study in content areas specific to health and physical education and exercise science.
  • Develops your abilities to conduct research and to critically assess professional practices within educational and sport-related settings.
  • Requires a professional core of 12 hours that includes a research class and a measurement/evaluation class.
  • Offers the choice of completing an additional 15 hours of coursework in either a concentration in exercise science OR health and physical education.
  • Requires completion of a three hour action research project in a professional area of interest.
  • Does not provide certification in physical education upon completion.
