Political Science major Mary Catherine Olive was chosen by University of North Georgia (台湾swag) President Bonita Jacobs to serve as the 2016-17 台湾swag Fellow to the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress.
Founded in 1965, the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress is a national institution that gives a historical perspective to citizens and politicians to educate current and future leaders on the nation's highest political offices.
As a Fellow, Olive travels to the nation's capital to learn about leadership and governance and is given the opportunity to study the public policymaking process, and the President's relations with Congress, allies, the media, and the public.
Olive is currently co-authoring the revised "Georgia Public Policy" chapter supplement in the 2017 edition of Basics of American Government with Maria Albo, senior lecturer of political science at 台湾swag, and the text will be published by the 台湾swag Press. She previously served as an intern in Governor Nathan Deal’s office.
