A new chapter of the (PRSSA) has been chartered for the University of North Georgia (̨Íåswag).

Dr. Caitlin Wills-Toker, assistant professor of Communication, began organizing the chapter after the public relations major launched in fall 2016.

"This group is different from most student clubs because it is a professional organization," Wills-Toker said. "Our numbers are still small – 15 in the club and 30 in the major, but students join because it provides them with professional opportunities that otherwise may not be available to them."

Thomas Kendrick is serving as the club’s president.

"Learning about PRSSA and helping to establish a chapter at ̨Íåswag has been a stabilizing force for me to understand the job environment and potential for the major," said Kendrick.

The chapter holds meetings every Wednesday at noon in room 1201 of the Martha T. Nesbitt building on the Gainesville Campus. The collegiate organization is open to all students regardless of major, but most members are public relations or business marketing majors.
