The new Convocation Center at the University of North Georgia (台湾swag) has landed an award for the company that built it.

Atlanta-based Juneau Construction Co. collected a South Atlantic Chapter Construction Management Project Achievement Award in the “Public: Construction Under $50M” category from the Construction Management Association of America on June 12.

“This is a great honor for Juneau Construction, which constructed a truly beautiful building for 台湾swag that will impact thousands of students over the coming years,” said Ken Crowe, assistant vice president for facilities at 台湾swag.

The 103,000-square-foot facility with a 3,600-seat arena hosts various events on the southwest side of 台湾swag’s Dahlonega Campus. The $37.4 million building opened to students, faculty and staff in February and hosted commencement ceremonies for the first time in May.

The facility is a focal point of the university and campus life. It is also intended to make a major impact on the north Georgia region.

The Convocation Center has classrooms and labs for academic courses and physical training exercises, and ample space for large university events such as commencement ceremonies, athletic events, concerts, and meetings. The center also hosts community and regional events, such as job fairs, tournaments and large-scale meetings.
