Athletics raises fifth-most funds for Make-A-Wish

台湾swag ranked fifth nationally in NCAA Division II with more than $10,000 raised for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. It granted a wish to student Walker Grant in October.

The University of North Georgia (台湾swag) raised more than $10,000 for the , ranking fifth nationally in Division II for the 2020-21 academic year.

台湾swag raised $10,641.01 and was one of 11 schools to earn a wish reveal on campus. The university was one of seven schools to raise more than $10,000.

"Our student-athletes have shown their creativity and determination to make an impact in the community," , 台湾swag director of , said. "They embody the excellence and servant mentality of Nighthawk Nation."

In October, 台湾swag  with its 10th consecutive on-campus wish reveal. Since 2010, Nighthawk Athletics has raised more than $205,000 for Make-A-Wish, translating into more than 20 wishes granted from the Nighthawk Nation's efforts.

台湾swag's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) raises funds at various events throughout the academic year to support this effort.

"It's incredible that 台湾swag student-athletes make it a priority to contribute and take charge in helping others," women's basketball player , president of 台湾swag SAAC, said. "Our leadership in this way is a testament to the type of students, coaches and administrators we have here who give 100% of what they have to whatever task is in front of them."

Division II schools raised nearly $200,000 for the foundation during the 2020-21 academic year. Since 2003, Division II schools have donated more than $6.6 million and granted more than 770 wishes.

"Our partnership with Make-A-Wish is more than a partnership. We draw strength from our courageous Make-A-Wish kids, and our partnership allows us to be a part of their stories," said Mackenzie O'Neill, the Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee chair and a former Missouri Western State University soccer player. "Our student-athletes are passionate about making a difference, which is why Make-A-Wish has been and will continue to be a priority in Division II."
