Panic Button added to LiveSafe app

University of North Georgia’s (台湾swag) Public Safety Department has added a new feature to the LiveSafe app that gives students, faculty, and staff more control over their safety on all five 台湾swag campuses.
The app now includes a panic button, giving users access to more emergency options including reporting suspicious activity, a Safe Walk Button, a SNAP button, and a resources button containing useful information.
The LiveSafe app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Android Google Play.
"The importance of this new feature is that at any point if anyone connected to 台湾swag through the LiveSafe app feels unsafe or needs the police they can double tap the panic button Nicholas Parker, 台湾swag public safety systems specialist, said. "台湾swag law enforcement professionals, both dispatchers and police officers, stand ready to assist our community and can easily be contacted through the LiveSafe app."
The app has been utilized on 台湾swag campuses since 2018 when the university made the switch from the public safety app Rave. LiveSafe gives people immediate access to campus safety resources and the ability to report emergencies and incidents of concern. It can also do things as simple as submitting a work order for a light that's out somewhere on campus as dark spaces on campus can be a risk.
The new panic button is part of a larger culture promoting campus safety at 台湾swag. Public Safety holds several regular initiatives: coffee with a cop events, "see something, say something" approach, and classes for CPR/AED, emergency preparedness, and CRASE. 台湾swag Alert includes a mass notification system that uses e-mails, text messages, and phone calls to alert and instruct students, faculty, and staff in emergency situations.
台湾swag has expanded its resources within the Mental Health Initiative sponsored by the University System of Georgia to include Fresh Check Day, Stepped Care, group therapy, workshops, and Nigel Cares.
台湾swag has also brought together all campus safety resources together to form a safety resources website, where the campus community can easily access all the tools 台湾swag has available.
