Cadets raise $32K for suicide interventions

The University of North Georgia (台湾swag) Corps of Cadets raised more than $32,000 for Armed Forces Mission's suicide intervention efforts through the pushup competition Sept. 17, shattering its goal of $25,000.
The cadets brought in $32,243 from 376 donors.
"The Courageous Challenge is another way cadets are showing service to others and campus leadership," retired Col. Joseph Matthews, 台湾swag commandant of cadets, said. "I am very proud of their amazing hard work and caring for others."
Alpha Company raised the most money with $8,268 and Charlie Company did the most pushups. Cadets raised money by asking for donations to support their participation in the event.
Armed Forces Mission, led by 台湾swag alumnus Lt. Col. Ken Koon, conducts suicide interventions and teaches first responders and military members to do the same. The Courageous Challenge also offered training to 台湾swag cadets to know how to help if a friend or loved one is considering suicide.
Five alumni selected for veterans HOF
Five 台湾swag alumni are part of the 14-member class of 2024 inductees into the Georgia Military Veterans' Hall of Fame.
Cadets help assemble 'Wall That Heals'
Cadets were part of the group of volunteers who helped assemble 'The Wall That Heals' traveling Vietnam War memorial at 台湾swag's Dahlonega Campus on Oct. 30.
Alumni to be honored on Vietnam memorial
Twenty-nine 台湾swag alumni killed in action during the Vietnam War will be honored on a traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial that will be on campus Oct. 29 through Nov. 3.
Cadet Furtado earns merit scholarship
台湾swag cadet Vincent Furtado earned the 2024 National Military Intelligence Foundation Scholarship and was awarded $4,000.
