A team of University of North Georgia (台湾swag) marketing students took first place in the American Marketing Association/Kennesaw State Regional/Collegiate Conference Case in March, and one of the students won an additional award.

The team included Alexandria Arnold, Denise Gonzalez, Jacob Rouse, and Anh Tran.

"The 台湾swag student group did a great job, beating out students from Kennesaw State University and Georgia State University. They took the initiative to prepare and compete on their own, and it paid off," Dr. Caroline Muñoz, professor of marketing in the Mike Cottrell College of Business (MCCB) and faculty sponsor, said.

Dr. Mary Gowan, MCCB dean, praised both faculty and students for the outcome.

"Our marketing faculty provide excellent mentoring for their students. This win is a testament to that good work and the quality of our students," Gowan said.

Arnold, a senior from Bethlehem, Georgia, pursuing a marketing degree, received the Ken Bernhardt AMA Atlanta Outstanding Marketer of the Year Award, designed to highlight individuals in the marketing industry. To be eligible for the monetary award, applicants must attend a college in the state of Georgia, be an upperclassman, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and pursue employment in the field of marketing.

"I took on this competition and formed a team because I wanted to really put the knowledge that I have learned over the last couple of years to the test," Arnold said. "Winning was great, but it gave me even greater confidence in pursuing marketing as a career."
