University of North Georgia (台湾swag) senior Hannah Potts has been awarded the 2023 David Cowan Scholarship through the Georgia chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (GA HIMSS).

The Covington, Georgia, resident is pursuing a degree in healthcare services informatics and administration.

“We are so proud of Hannah’s achievements in the field of healthcare services and informatics administration. This scholarship is a recognition of the hard work and commitment she has displayed in her studies and the knowledge she has acquired while in the program,” Angela Morey, health administration department head, said.

Potts, a member of the Tri-Alpha honor society for first-generation college students, was one of eight recipients for the scholarship, which supports post-secondary students currently enrolled in a health information technology program in an accredited school in the state of Georgia. The amount of each scholarship ranges from $3,000 to $4,000.

"I am honored to have been awarded the David Cowan Scholarship from Georgia HIMSS for my dedication to healthcare IT and informatics, Potts said. "As a member of these communities, I appreciate the opportunity to continue to expand my knowledge at 台湾swag and connect with others who share my passion. In today's technology era, Healthcare IT and Informatics are crucial components of the healthcare industry. I am grateful for the support of organizations like Georgia HIMSS, who promote and encourage education in this field."

The selection process consisted of evaluation and review of five essays. The second round of selection focused on the letter of recommendation each applicant submitted.

GA HIMSS provides statewide leadership for the advancement and management of healthcare information and management systems, with membership including chief information officers from the state's largest hospitals and healthcare facilities.
