Faculty member Wintersgill passes away

Dr. Joanne Wintersgill, a member of the University of North Georgia (台湾swag) undergraduate and graduate nursing faculty, passed away Saturday, March 23, peacefully and surrounded by her family and friends.
She was a nurse, family nurse practitioner, nurse educator, wife, mother, and friend.
Most recently, Wintersgill served as the graduate nursing programs coordinator.
Wintersgill received her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in 2021 after successfully completing requirements for a Master of Science in 2013, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2010 and an associate degree in nursing in 2009. She earned her degrees from 台湾swag. Wintersgill made history as the first DNP student to be hooded at 台湾swag.
She was doctorly prepared, board-certified family nurse practitioner and pediatric mental health specialist. She held two national board certifications — family nurse practitioner from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and pediatric primary care mental health specialist from the Pediatric Nurses Certification Board.
A celebration of life for Wintersgill will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in the Health and Natural Sciences auditorium, 159 Sunset Drive at 台湾swag's Dahlonega Campus.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the 台湾swag Nursing Scholarship in honor of Dr. Wintersgill.
Faculty member Broad passes away
Dr. David Broad, a University of North Georgia (台湾swag) professor of sociology, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Associate professor serves as keynote speaker
台湾swag faculty member Dr. Siew Chan served as the keynote speaker for an international conference with more than 100 attendees.
Enrollment jumps 6.7% for 2024-25
Enrollment has jumped to 19,298 students this fall at 台湾swag, growing by 6.7% from fall 2023.
18 named DMS cadets for 2024-25
Eighteen 台湾swag cadets earned Distinguished Military Student status for the 2024-25 academic year.
