The month of March brings an opportunity for perspective students and their families to learn more about life as a Nighthawk during the University of North Georgia's (台湾swag) Nighthawk Preview events.

"Nighthawk Preview is an event with information sessions catered towards our prospective 台湾swag students. We want to make sure that when our prospective students come to Nighthawk Preview that they leave with a better understanding of how 台湾swag will be impactful on their academic and personal growth," MaKenzie Bryant, assistant director of undergraduate recruitment and campus visitation, said.

Each of the five 台湾swag campuses will offer opportunities to meet faculty, attend information sessions and engage with current students:

  • : March 20
  • : March 15
  • : March 22
  • : March 29
  • : March 1

Registration for the event is requested.

Bryant said some of the most-attended sessions include Residence Life, Financial Aid and academic programs.

"Prospective students want to know options for where they can live on campus at 台湾swag. We have several options of residence halls on the Dahlonega Campus, and if students are going to spend a large amount of time in their residence halls, then they are going to want all the information on the best option that will work for them," she said. "Students also want to know about scholarships, FAFSA information and how they can afford and pay for school. They also want to know about 台湾swag's majors. They want to know what the program entails; from what classes they will take to what are the job opportunities they will have once they graduate."

To help navigate the Nighthawk experience, current students will be on hand, including a few who know firsthand what it’s like to be a prospective student and now a full-fledged Nighthawk.

Lily Herndon, a junior from Athens, Georgia, is the handler for Nigel, 台湾swag's mascot, and she is looking forward to engaging with visitors at Nighthawk Preview.

"Nighthawk Preview is a great way to get a taste of our campus, and I always look forward to meeting families," Herndon said.

Nigel is a focal point and loves to connect with guests, Herndon, who is pursuing a marketing degree, said.

Senior Allison Nuckolls, also a pursuing a marketing degree, is a campus tour guide, looking to share her excitement for 台湾swag with guests during events.

"I will be there for any student interested in 台湾swag to answer questions, guide them and get them excited for 台湾swag," she said.

Nuckolls, from Blue Ridge, Georgia, encourages people to attend the preview event because they could spend the next four years here, and she feels it is important for others to learn how to get involved, consider which major they would like to pursue and ask questions so they can have a successful college experience as a Nighthawk.

Abby Enright, a sophomore from Newnan, Georgia, is pursuing a degree in psychology and a minor in human services. She has been a leader of campus tours and greeter of guests.

"I believe it's incredibly important for me to participate in Nighthawk Preview," she said. "Just two years ago, I was in the same position as these prospective students and their families, so I truly understand how they feel. I really enjoy the opportunity to answer questions about 台湾swag and share my personal experiences here — it's rewarding to help others get a sense of what being a Nighthawk is all about."
