Pathway+ Program
Map Your Future at 台湾swag
The first year of college can be both exciting and challenging. 台湾swag’s Pathway+ program is designed to help you successfully navigate your first year and map your path toward achieving a bachelor’s degree. Pathway+ associate students on the Oconee and Gainesville campuses have opportunities to explore major programs, enroll in Learning Communities with peers, and take advantage of ready access to support services and first year experience classes that build confidence for the future.

What Pathways Can I Choose
Pathway+ provides coursework that introduces associate students to related major programs under a single heading; for example, the Behavioral Sciences Pathway+ provides a foundation for possible degrees in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology/Social Work, while the Business Pathway+ prepares students to transition to bachelor’s degrees in management, finance, accounting, or marketing.
By selecting a Pathway+, students can explore their interests and identify the major that’s right for them, all while moving forward toward a degree.
I like having things planned out and knowing things like: What's my next step? How can I get ready for this? Or what happens if that doesn't work out? Having a plan, and sticking to it, helps students a lot.

Pathway+ Learning Communities
Students in Pathway+ are enrolled in paired classes shared with the same group of peers to form Learning Communities. University first-year experience classes, which open the door to the secrets of college success, are also part of the Learning Communities. UNIV 1001, Strategies for Academic Success, is designed to assist you in the mastery of strategies, tools, and habits associated with being successful in college. UNIV 1002, Pathways to Careers, focuses on your future to assist you with the major and career decisions ahead of you.
Learning Communities provide opportunities for students to work closely with their professors and classmates to boost learning and chances of academic success. Finding a study partner has never been easier!

How Pathway+ Will Support Your Journey
First Semester
Your first semester schedule will be built for you by a professional academic advisor and include two academic classes and a UNIV 1001 class shared by the same group of students to form a Pathway+ Learning Community. Learning Communities help you get to know your professors and classmates better and boost your chances of academic success.
At a required meeting with your professional advisor during your first semester, you will discuss your academic progress, connect with helpful resources, and plan your schedule for the following semester, which will also include Learning Community classes.
Participate in a Learning Community and successfully complete your UNIV course during your first semester!
Second Semester
At a required meeting with your professional advisor during your second semester, you will discuss your academic progress, explore your level of interest in a specific major program, review helpful resources, and plan your schedule for the following semester.
You will also review the requirements for transitioning to a baccalaureate degree and discuss your eligibility to transition after your first academic year.
At a required meeting with your professional advisor during your second semester, you will discuss your academic progress and current ability to meet the requirements for transitioning to a bachelor’s degree in your chosen major. If appropriate, your advisor will help you with the degree-level change process.
Third Semester
You will work with an academic advisor to review and submit your degree level change form.
You will also continue to review helpful resources and plan your schedule for the following semester.
Fourth Semester
If you have transitioned to a bachelor’s degree, you will be reassigned to a faculty advisor in your major department who will support your progress in meeting program requirements.
If you have not yet changed degree levels, your current advisor will continue to support you in achieving your academic and personal goals!
