The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Leadership (CTLL) congratulates Dr. Miriam Segura who has been selected to receive the 2017 Felton Jenkins, Jr. Hall of Fame from the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (USG). Dr. Segura-Totten also received the 台湾swag Distinguished Teaching Award for the 2016-2017 academic year.
Dr. Segura-Totten serves as Professor of Biology and Harry B. Forester Eminent Scholars Chair at the University of North Georgia (台湾swag). Her career is distinguished by her excellence as an instructor, researcher, and administrator. She has made significant contributions to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and High-Impact Educational Practices (HIPs), such as undergraduate research.
The 2017 Felton Jenkins, Jr. Hall of Fame Faculty Award selects three faculty in each division for research and comprehensive universities, state university, and the state college. According to the USG's Faculty Affairs website, a candidate's selection is based upon their "strong commitment to teaching and student success." These commitments are based on enhancing student learning through "innovative uses of technology, active learning, learning communities, student portfolios, and assessment." This award also highlights the faculty commitment of students' success outside of the classroom, such as advising and mentoring.
