Children cannot be left in the waiting room unattended and children cannot be brought into a session unless it is for family counseling. Arrangements for childcare should be made prior to attending sessions. If the client is unable to make childcare arrangements in advance of the appointment, with notice, the appointment will be rescheduled to a more convenient time.
The Masters students are at the end of an intensive and comprehensive graduate program of study. They are now applying their acquired knowledge to their work with clients with faculty supervision and assistance.
This is a teaching facility. The cameras in the room are for the supervisors to observe the counselor and to ensure they are providing the client with a high level of care. All sessions are recorded and monitored by close-circuit T.V. and these recordings are for educational and supervision purposes only. The student counselor receives consultation from the faculty supervisor who reviews the session. This is done to provide feedback and improve the student counselor’s skills. All records are kept on a secure computer system that is password-protected.
In order to meet the needs of the community and provide services to those individuals on the waiting list, the clinic abides by a strict cancellation/no show policy. If a client fails to attend the first scheduled session, the client will be removed from the counselor's schedule in order to accommodate other clients on the waiting list. The client’s name may be placed back on the waiting list. However, the client must call first and speak with one of the available staff members.
All services received at the Community Counseling Clinic are confidential. In order to disclose information to outside sources, a Consent for Release of Information must be signed in advance.
